Most MMA fans agree that Michael Jerome Reece-Page is one of the most incredible fighters to ever grace the world of MMA. The British fighter is often considered one of the greatest fighters of the modern age in several different combat sports. His unique and eye-catching fighting style is probably a big part of his incredible success.

Page has won countless medals throughout his kickboxing career, and he’s made an incredible name for himself with all the records he set at Bellator. Fans who may have heard of Page but thought they had never seen him may have seen a viral video of his knockout victory over Evangelista Santos. It turns out that a heavy flying knee and the rolling of a Pokeball is a great way to go viral in the world of MMA.

While many people have their own personal opinions on Page, it’s hard to deny how much he has done for the world of MMA. There is something amazing about a fighter who is willing to put in the time teaching others.

While it is possible that his training commitments were derailed due to the global pandemic, he is said to have trained fighters across Surrey at the various Hands Down martial arts academies. Most MMA fighters could only dream of working with such a skilled fighter as Page.

They specifically trained in Lau Gar kung fu, and one of his uncles is said to be a Lau Gar kung fu master. With all of this, Michael ended up training at Lau Gar as well. With so many influential martial arts practitioners around him, it’s no surprise that Page has proven to be as skilled as he is.

With Page’s quality, it would be shocking if the rest of his family weren’t able to match at least a fraction of his skills. Unsurprisingly, some of his siblings are champions in their own right.

While it is possible that several of his siblings will be decorated in their own right, three of his siblings and one of his sisters are all said to be kickboxing champions. Even more shocking than a family of champions, it was their father who originally trained them all.

seven He participated in his first tournament at an early age

Many fighters show early signs of greatness with the way they compete as children, and Page was absolutely no different. Entering competition as a kid can be scary, but the way young Page started to compete is amazing in itself.

Page entered his first tournament at the age of five. While there isn’t much information on where he ended up at this event, even being ready to compete at this age is amazing. After that, Page only waited three more years before entering his first international competition at the age of eight.

6 His first world championship came when he was twelve.

While many fighters compete their entire lives for even one chance to win a championship, others manage to reach lofty goals quickly. With the frenzy Page has competed throughout his life, it’s not so shocking to find out how quickly he won his first world championship.

His first championship victory dates back to the 1998 US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships. Winning a world championship is an incredible accomplishment, but doing it at the age of twelve shows that a fighter has something special about him.

5 He’s already fought twenty-two times in one day

Seeing an MMA fighter fight multiple times a year is a treat for his biggest fans. Seeing Royce Gracie compete multiple times on the same night is iconic. Knowing that Page has already competed twenty-two times in one day is amazing.

The fact that he fought twenty-two times in one day may be hard to believe for some, but when you find out that he was competing in five different weight classes on the same day, it starts to seem a little more believable. It’s likely the fights weren’t against a high-quality UFC-style contender every time, but the feat is still incredibly impressive.

4 He turned down the possibility of training for the Olympics

There are many athletes who work their entire lives for the chance to represent their country at the Olympics. While at one point, Page was offered an opportunity that could have led him to the Olympics, he actually turned it down.

While Page excelled at kickboxing, he also practiced various forms of MMA throughout his life which led to him being spotted by the British Olympic taekwondo team. Most athletes would have jumped at the chance, but Page wanted to focus on an MMA career.

3 Complaints about kickboxing led him to MMA

No matter how much a person enjoys their career, there is bound to be at least one thing they wish they weren’t who they are. The world of kickboxing was no different for Michael Page, which is perfect for MMA fans.

One of the biggest things that many kickboxing fans hate is how unknown the majority of the sport’s fighters are to the general public. It was exactly this complaint and other behind-the-scenes issues in the world of kickboxing that led Page to focus on the larger world of MMA.

2 He’s a dominant boxer

While some MMA fighters try to make the jump to boxing, they don’t always find the most success with the new pursuit. The dominance that Page demonstrates in his MMA career translated well into his boxing attempts.

Although he has only had two boxing matches under his belt at this point, he has managed to put on two impressive performances. Page looked like a champion in both games and beat an opponent by TKO and one by KO. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him return to boxing soon.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor

With someone as skilled as Page, there’s bound to be a lot of smart things he can say about a fight. Whether it’s an expert strike or a one-off defense, Page’s experience gives him the ability to comment on even the most erratic fighters.

Hearing someone as good as Page comment on a fight against two legends from two different sports has many MMA fans hoping for potential clashes with either man. Seeing Page come face to face in the Octagon with McGregor or boxing with one of the greatest boxers of all time would surely be a lot of fun.
