Angelina Jolie relished a more serious role in Those Who Wish Me Death | Culture & Leisure
Angelina Jolie loved being “beaten enough” by doing “Those Who Wish Me Death”.
The 45-year-old actress plays Firefighter Hannah in the survival thriller, and although she’s best known for action movies, she enjoyed the fact that her character was much more gritty and down to earth than the roles she has played in the past. .
She said, “There is nothing about this character who trained in martial arts or who did anything special. I’m pretty beaten up about it.”
And playing an expert smoke jumper – the name given to specially trained firefighters who parachute into the blazing wilderness – gave the brunette beauty more respect to the firefighters as the shoot progressed.
She told Entertainment Weekly magazine: “The first day we were in the fire, [I noticed] the heat and speed with which the winds would change and the speed at which the fire would suddenly take a tree that you did not expect.
“Our respect only increases day by day for these people on the front lines and for the difficulty of this job.
While Angelina has been acting since the age of seven, she believes her decision to turn to directing in recent years has improved her performance by giving her a new perspective.
She explained, “In very technical terms, I’m more aware of what the director needs, what other challenges he faces and how many different pieces are moving.”
And as a result, she had a lot more patience and appreciation for the tough stunts and movie sets.
She added, “Maybe when you’re younger and you’re having a huge day where you have to be cold and wet, emotional and crying, you think about these things.
“Now that you’ve realized and you’re older, and you realize that while you’re going to freeze and cry, there’s also pyrotechnics going on, or several other situations. It pulls you out of yourself.”
