“Asaba is ready to host the Superstar Kickboxing Championship”


Organizers of the inaugural Diamond Superstars Kickboxing National Open Championship, which begins this year in Asaba, Delta State, said the city is ready for competition.
The championship is scheduled to be held from the 15th to the 21st of this month at the Delta State Sports Complex, Asaba.
The General Secretary of the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria (KBFN), Mr Olalekan Faseesin, said the Federation would organize the championship in collaboration with the Delta State Sports Commission, with the country’s world ring superstar, Lovethpatra Ekufu, an athlete renowned professional, as a sponsor.
Popularly known as the “Nigerian Terminator” due to her combativeness inside the ring, Ekufu is the first African female World Champion in Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts.
Ekufu’s accomplishments include being a two-time World Kickboxing Champion, three-time World Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Champion, 25-time Kickboxing Champion, five-time National Boxing Champion, African Wushu Champion and two times national champion of Muay Thai.
She holds the honor of being the most decorated African fighter of all time.
Speaking on the championship, KBFN President Mr. Wilson Okon praised Ekufu for giving back to society by sponsoring the championship.
With August 15 booked as the finish date, the Diamond Superstars Championship will kick off with a seminar on August 16-17, while the championship itself will be held August 18-20.
