AUK karatekas win 11 medals in the virtual edition of the Women Martial Arts Festival
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Karatekas from the Association for the Upliftment of Karate-Do (AUK) won 11 medals at the recent virtual edition of the 2021 Women’s Martial Arts Festival, which ran throughout July .
The karatekas of famous Cebuana karate trainer Rhodee Antoinette Saavedra won three gold, four silver and four bronze in the virtual karate competition which brought together the best karate clubs in the country who competed against each other in both e-fantom kumite (sparring) and e-kata (shape) categories.
Rhosenne Maira Silva won the gold medal in the 14-15 intermediate e-kata with Jie Cabuenas who dominated the 10-11 intermediate e-kata, and Kate Ariane Madrid who reigned over the e- fantom kumite intermediate 14-15 years old.
Silva and Madrid also won a silver medal each in the intermediate e-fantom kumite and the intermediate e-kata respectively.
Guilliane ALiafhaye Roque won a silver medal and a bronze medal in the e-fantom kumite intermediate 10-11 years old and intermediate e-kata 10-11 years old category. Corine Benedict Sipalay snatched a silver medal in the intermediate 6-9 year old e-kata.
Febe Cabuenas won two bronze medals in the intermediate e-kata and the intermediate e-phantom kumite 12-13 years old while his teammate Wenxi Cai also joined the medal crop with a bronze medal in the e- fantom kumite intermediate 8-9 years.
