Cornerstone UMC Beacon Saturdays

CHRISNEY — Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Chrisney hosts a Beacon program every Saturday night. The program begins at 5 p.m. and includes a meal, music and a message. This program is free and everyone is welcome.

St. Meinrad Parish Fall Picnic

ST. MEINRAD – The annual St. Meinrad Parish Fall Picnic will be held on the church grounds on Sunday, September 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Featured are fried chicken dinners, famous soup, by the bowl or gallon, ice cream by Windmill Chill and a food court.

There will be live music by Hagedorn Family Band, a children’s area with games and activities, a country store, themed baskets, a raffle and a raffle.

There will be an architectural tour of the parish church at 11 a.m.

The celebration will end with the thematic basket and the raffles.

Chrisney Fall Festival Parade

CHRINSEY – The Chrisney Fall Festival Parade hosted by the Chrisney Volunteer Fire Dept. will take place on Saturday, September 17 from 2 p.m. sharp. The parade lineup will be held at the Chrisney 4-H Fairgrounds. All parade entries must be online by 1 p.m. Parade entry forms must be completed and returned by September 11th. A copy of the form is available on the Chrisney Fall Fest Facebook page.

Open Mic Night at St. Meinrad’s American Legion

ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad American Legion, ext. 366, will be sponsoring Open Mic Night on Friday, August 19 from 7-11 p.m. Central Time.

Registration for musicians will begin at 6 p.m. Central Time. Bring your guitar, violin or banjo and share your talent. Sound and microphones will be provided, and drums will also be available.

Depending on the registrations, each artist will take the stage for approx. 15 minutes.

There is no entrance fee and the public is welcome to come and enjoy great live music and discover local talent.

canning workshop

LINCOLN CITY – The Spencer County Soil and Water Conservation District and Lincoln State Park will be holding another workshop on August 13, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nature Center that covers the implementation canning and preserving garden vegetables. LSP entry fees are $7 for in-state vehicles and $9 for out-of-state vehicles.

ROCKPORT – The Rockport Cruise In will take place on Saturday, August 13 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Walk down Main Street in Rockport and enjoy the live music, food trucks and community.

11th Annual St. Meinrad Rocks Festival

ST. MEINRAD ¬- The 2022 St. Meinrad Rocks Fest will take place Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 at St. Meinrad Park. The two-day outdoor event will feature a full lineup of performers on two stages, vendors, a raffle, beer garden and concessions. Free entry. Bring lawn chairs. No coolers or glass. Proceeds will go to the upcoming St. Meinrad City Museum.

Mariah Hill “Soup” 5K Run/Walk

MARIAH HILL — The Mariah Hill Social Concerns Committee will hold its 5th annual 5k run/walk on Sunday, August 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. It’s the morning of the Mariah Hill picnic. Start of registration at 7:30 a.m. T-Shirts guaranteed to all participants. The first male/female will win a gallon of Mariah Hill’s famous soup. Prizes awarded in each category. All graduates are eligible to win gifts from local sponsors. The race starts and ends at Patriot Station in Mariah Hill.

Free self defense seminar

ROCKPORT — Master Eric Elliot of the Elliot Kyusho-Jitsu School of Martial Arts will host a free self-defense seminar for ages four and up on Thursday, August 4. It will be held at Crown Pointe Dance Studio in Rockport from 5-6 p.m. pm

Wittman meeting on August 14

EVANSTON — Wittman’s meeting will be Sunday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m., with food served at noon. The meeting will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 12308 E CR 1160 N, Evanston.

Registration for the meeting begins at 11 a.m. At the registration desk, family members will be asked to provide their current address, email and list of births, deaths, marriages, etc. occurred in their family since 2018.

A take-out dinner starts at noon. Bring a covered dish of your favorite dish. Please bring serving spoons for your dish. Fried chicken, coffee, tea, lemonade, soft drinks, bread and table service will be provided.

After lunch, we will take “family” photos and share stories.

Again, we will be having a silent auction to help generate funds for our next meeting in August 2024. If you would like to donate one or more items, please bring them with you.

Young Abe’s Bluegrass and Country Craft Fair at LSP

LINCOLN CITY — Lincoln State Park is partnering with the Lincoln Amphitheater to kick off its first “Young Abe Bluegrass and Countryside Craft Fair” on Sunday, August 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Lincoln Amphitheater parking lot. The event will feature a variety of vendors selling crafts, food, and naturalist-led activities for people of all ages. Young Abe’s Bluegrass and Country Craft Fair will be held in conjunction with the Lincoln Amphitheater’s first Amp Unplugged event of the season – an intimate Sunday afternoon event featuring the bluegrass sounds of the band “Kentucky Shine” from Owensboro and very special guest Troy Miller from Evansville. This event is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

Tickets to the show will get you into the park as early as 11 a.m. to enjoy the full day of activities and are only $12.95 per person and can be purchased at bit.ly/KYShineatAMP. Dale Autumn Festival

DALE – The 54th annual Dale Fall Festival will be held September 8-10. It is the largest street festival in Spencer County. Taste culinary specialties such as elephant ears, pronto puppies, lemonade shakes, and more.

Carnival rides, shows, parades and game booths will be available to entertain the whole family. The Queen’s Pageant will take place on Sunday, September 4 at the Heritage Hills Auditorium.

Chrisney Autumn Festival Car Show

CHRISNEY – The Chrisney Fall Festival is hosting its first annual car show on September 17. $10 per car. Registration from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 2 p.m. Fun for the whole family. 76th Annual Grandview Fall Festival

GRANDVIEW – The Grandview Fall Festival will take place on Saturday September 24th. The full-day event includes a parade, car show, beer tent, all-day live music, vendors, food trucks, children’s games, inflatables and more !
