DPL seeks community talent for workshops | Community

Duncan Public Library is on a mission to seek out people with different talents, occupations, and collections for upcoming presentations.

Library manager Amy Ryker said she is currently looking for people with skills, collections and talents to introduce to the library.

“We have a display space that’s perfect for showing collections,” Ryker said. “In the past we had Depression-era glass sets, 80s toys, matryoshka dolls, rubber duckies, African artifacts, wooden creations, art and designs , vintage Christmas cards, friendship bracelets, insect collections and much more.”

According to Ryker, the library continues to look for different ways to educate or entertain community members.

“We are open to many types of collections and creations,” Ryker said.

Whether it’s special skills, jobs, or talents, the library seeks to hold workshops or presentations with individuals for the community.

“We’ve had all kinds of workshops here,” Ryker said, “including how to make your own cleaning supplies, candy cooking, organizing, writing, tai chi and more.”

According to Ryker, anyone who wants to share their skills and talents should contact the library and they will set up a schedule.
