ESPL signs Bollywood star Tiger Shroff as official brand Ambassador – The Esports Observer

Bollywood actor and singer Tiger Shroff has been named brand ambassador for India’s premier esports league, Esports Premier League.

The financial terms of this new transaction were not disclosed.

One of India’s highest paid actors, Shroff has starred in successful Hindi films such as Baaghi Film Series, 2 Year Student Munna Michael, War and many more. Shroff, who is also an Honorary Fifth Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, is particularly popular among young Indians, a major reason why this new partnership is important for ESPL as it tries to bring esport to an audience. general public in the country.

With the majority of the 1.4 billion Indians being young, the Bollywood sensation, also known for its passion for sports and mixed martial arts, will connect Esports to the mainstream as the league’s inaugural edition promises to bring the excitement of Esports through its national tournament. with lakhs of registrations which will start from Wednesday. The preliminary rounds will engage in a very competitive competition as eight teams will be chosen in the third round to take part in the grand final.

The ESPL, whose basic structure is made up of franchised urban teams, officially starts on Wednesday, with smartphone maker Infinix as the main sponsor. Season 1 competitions will feature Garena Free fire and will be held online over the next two and a half months, with an overall prize pool worth Rs. 25 lakhs ($ 34,000 USD) and the top 88 teams. The first place winner will earn Rs. 12 lakhs ($ 16.3,000), second place earns Rs. 6 lakhs ($ 8.1,000) and third place earns Rs. 3 lakhs ($ 4K).

The matches will be broadcast on linear television via the OTT Disney + Hotstar platform, and on the YouTube and Facebook channels of India Today and Aaj Tak and its websites.
