Friends in Action senior center reopens
ELLSWORTH – The Friends in Action Seniors Center will begin reopening its programs on Thursday, July 1 with the popular Café Visite with Friends, a free morning social coffee. Seniors are welcome anytime between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday for coffee and light refreshments.
Many of the senior center programs will return in July and August.
“It will be a gradual reopening,” said executive director Jo Cooper, stressing the caution many older people have since COVID-19. “The programs will depend on how comfortable people are and what they are looking for. ”
An honor system will be maintained for the wearing of the mask. Unvaccinated people will be asked to wear a mask, but no proof of vaccination will be required. Facilitators of individual classes may request masks if they wish. A variety of old programs, including Pastels, Wednesday Painters, and the Free Writing Group, will resume.
Other programs starting in July include new fitness classes, starting on different dates. Registration is encouraged. The fee is $ 60 for a 10-visit pass or $ 8 for a day pass. Former participants can have a credit from 2020 and should inquire about any balance.
Fitness classes will include a class at UBE Fitness and Physical Therapy, chair yoga, Move & Tone, Tai Chi and more. For a current schedule, visit www.friendsinactionellsworth.org or email [email protected] The Senior Center will be closed for the July 4th holiday on Monday July 5th.
