âI received my brown jiu-jitsu belt today. By my rough calculation, I spent at least 2,400 hours on the mats (if not more). It was a long trip with lots of tops and of stockings (and wounds), but I wouldn’t change any of that. I’ve been subjected more times than I can remember. I’ve come home discouraged more times than I want to admit. have wanted to give up more times than I can count. Of course, I am not the most talented student of jiu-jitsu, but my love for gentle art is indestructible … I want to express my most deep gratitude to Master Renzo Gracie and professors Rafael Gordinho Lima, Teco Shinzato, Alex Silva, Leandro Brodinho, Almiro Barros, Gamal Hassan El Amin, Eduardo Rigatto Novaes, Guli Kozama, Valdir Rodrigues, Rodrigo Marello, Thales Nakassu and Martin Hartono. Without each of you, I wouldn’t be here today. “
