Kengan Omega Chapter 1 returns to the underworld of martial arts

Kengan Omega’s first chapter shows how elitist Kengan’s match fighters are, promising bigger fights to come.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Kengan Omega Chapter 1, available in English on Comikey.
Even if Kengan Omega is a series following Kengan Achoura, the first chapter turns out to be the perfect entry point for new readers. A fighter at the top of his game delves into the world of underground martial arts and quickly discovers how elitist the best of the best can be. Kengan Omega presents Kengan’s game world with all the mystique and awe it deserves. If there ever was a starting point, this is it.
Although it is preceded by chapter 0, Kengan Omega doesn’t reveal what Kengan’s matches before Chapter 1 really look like. world he seeks to explore. The company only has 3 employees, and although he fires the janitor he meets as a person, it turns out to be Yamashita Kazuo, a figure readers of the previous series will recognize. .
Yamashita started the old series in much the same position as Koga, completely unfamiliar with the world of underground martial arts and totally out of his league. Although Yamashita is not a fighter himself, he has an extraordinary sense of talent. He sees something in Koga that intrigues him, and in Chapter 1 willingly agrees to show Koga what a Kengan match really looks like. Koga is amazed to find that a world famous MMA fighter from the United States participates in the matches, but his amazement only grows when this fighter easily loses to his opponent, Imai Cosmo.
As one of the top eight tournament fighters from the original series, Imai Cosmo has earned a reputation as a grappler king for his unmatched skills. In the two years since Achoura, he honed his punching skills to better balance himself as a fighter, and with a few quick punches he brought down his opponent. Koga’s entire concept of what defines world-class talent is destroyed, and Yamashita warns him that if he were to join Kengan’s matches right away, he would get injured. Still determined, Koga agrees to become a fighter apprentice to develop into someone worthy of fighting in Kengan matches.
Part of Koga’s determination seems to be obsessed with Tokita Ohma, one of the best fighters in the original series who apparently died at the end of the story. Readers familiar with this story may be shocked to find in Chapter 1 that a man strikingly resembling Ohma is alive, and just as Imai did, the newcomer quickly puts one of Katahara’s elite guards to work. Metsudo. Metsudo recognizes the face of the mysterious man, and when he introduces himself as Gaoh Ryuki, he is even more intrigued by the connection to the seemingly slain fighter.
Both scenarios lay the groundwork for further possibilities, promising ever-increasing skill levels in the battles to come. Both Ryuki and Koga appear determined to make Kengan’s matches on their own, but the worth of either fighter remains a question for the next few chapters. Fortunately, new readers have the perfect introduction to begin this discovery themselves, and with Kengan Omega officially translated into English and available for free, they have the perfect means to do it for the very first time.
