Springs Martial Arts Studio is offering a free anti-kidnapping class this weekend for parents and kids
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Parents and kids alike will have the chance to learn vital self-defense skills this weekend – for free!
Cavalry Family Martial Arts and Fitness in Colorado Springs is hosting a free community training event for parents and school-aged children on June 5 at 10 a.m.
On average each year, 350 people under the age of 21 are abducted by foreigners in the United States, according to the FBI. While statistically the chances of this happening to your child are low, the reality is that the chance is always there.
“The average person will never have to deal with this,” said CFMAF owner and head coach Issac Costley. “But even if it’s only a tenth of 1% of people who will, and that tenth of 1% is your child, then you’re going to find what we’re doing here is really worth it.”
In mid-May, a Florida child nearly became a statistic when a man with a knife attempted to pull her into his car. Instead, she fought back and fled. Take a look below:
Costley hopes to teach the children of Colorado Springs to defend themselves in the same way should the unthinkable happen.

If you can’t come on Saturday, keep checking the website; more free classes may be offered throughout the summer.
