Tickets on sale for the Forest Festival launch party

I hope you have enjoyed all this beautiful warm weather. I’m afraid it’s getting warmer, but we’re lucky to have the most beautiful beaches in Michigan. The water can be cold, but just stepping into the water will refresh you. I remember growing up here and seeing which of my friends or family had their first swim in Lake Michigan every May. It was always something to look forward to.
Last weekend, the Rats & Rods Car Party was a hit! It’s always great to have such positive feedback from people about things happening here. Thank you for hosting another fun event in Manistee County. Jim and Sharon Sievert have been hosting this auto party for several years. They have always donated the money they received to help animals in Manistee County. The Sieverts donated money to our pet food program for seniors. Thank you to everyone who helps us support our seniors and their pets.
This weekend we have our annual senior craft show at the senior center. Enter and discover all the beautiful handicrafts. There are so many talented people in our area and I think you will be pleased with their craftsmanship. The show starts at 9 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome, so come show your support for our seniors.
This week we have the Veterans Exchange on Monday which starts at 12:30. Come in and have lunch at noon, then reunite with the group. All veterans are welcome to come and participate. Wednesday we have Tunes with Lou before Fun Bingo. Stop and listen to Lou play the piano and enjoy. Friday we have our monthly food bank. All Manistee County seniors 60 and older are welcome to participate in this important program. With food prices rising, we need to make sure our seniors don’t deprive themselves of nutritious food. If you’re thinking of ways to give back to your community, consider donating to a local food bank.
If you’re a Detroit Tigers fan and would like to see a game in person at beautiful Comerica Park, give us a call and sign up. The trip includes first-class accommodation in a charter bus, great game seats and lunch at the stadium. Everyone is encouraged to join this trip, all ages are welcome.
Tickets are on sale for the 4th of July launch party. We worked on a big and fun polka party and dinner on June 30th. We have planned so many fun things for the party, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. We’ll have Butch Baker and the Just 4 Fun Band entertaining, Jerry Zupin Catering cooking up a delicious meal and lots of fun and surprises. We hope to see you there.
On Tuesday afternoon, Chrissy Streeter from the public library visited and gave a class on the basics of smartphones and tablets. We had such a large group of people come for this class. Everyone was thrilled and can’t wait for her to come back next month with another class.

Thank you Jim for coming and having fun with all of us! We also had the guys for Toe Tapping this week, it’s fun to see everyone helping make things happen at the Manistee County Council on Aging!
It seems that there was an error in our newsletter. It showed that our coffee and cards were May 10, but it’s actually May 24. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Hope you’re having a great week and don’t forget to try something new!
