WarnerMedia Kids & Family EMEA has acquired the broadcast rights to “Jade Armor”, an animated action and martial arts series from France’s TeamTO, one of Europe’s leading children’s entertainment production companies.

An example of the platforms’ push towards local animation and diversity that is galvanizing animation in Europe, the new licensing deal builds on the sale of “Jade Armor” last year to WarnerMedia Kids & Family in the United States, providing a powerful and elegant premium platform distribution for the series.

Produced by multi-award-winning TeamTO founder Corinne Kouper and co-created by showrunners Chloé Miller whose passions for anime shine through in the series, “Jade Armor” turns against Lan Jun, who goes against of any kind of gender stereotyping, as noted by Miller for Variety: She likes pink but likes to fight and enjoys watching football games and painting her nails.

Loving the martial arts, she also becomes an unexpected and unlikely teenage heroine when she dons a mysterious jade bracelet, forcing her to learn her family’s ancient secrets and uncover the unexpected, including a cohort of super-villains. , while navigating the typical challenges of teenage life.

Kouper and Miller are supported by a key all-female creative team: head writer MJ Offen; French editor-in-chief Ghislaine Pujol and co-developer Mary Bredin. “Jade Armor” is based on a concept by Mr. Pongo Kuo.

The series in 26 half-hour episodes is produced by TeamTO with France Télévisions, the country’s public television, and Super RTL in Germany.

“Lan Jun, the central character of ‘Jade Armor’, is the embodiment of girl power – a superhero balancing her new responsibilities with the demands of teenage life,” said Zia Bales, head of acquisitions, partnerships and co-productions, children EMEA, WarnerMedia.

“We are thrilled to bring this strong woman to HBO Max and Cartoon Network in EMEA, broadening our appeal to girls and demonstrating our commitment to European content.”

“Cartoon Network has always been known for its exciting, action-packed and funny series, so we’re thrilled that ‘Jade Armor’ is a headliner for girl-led characters in this genre. HBO Max and Cartoon Network are the perfect partners and platforms to bring our crazy character Jade to life across the globe,” Kouper added.
